Surrounded by water on three sides and a bustling coastal community, Royal William Yard is the perfect setting for Seafest celebrations - and is taking part for the first time this year. Live performances, theatre and music will run across the weekend, with something to entertain all ages.
Seafest Plymouth is a celebration of our city by the sea, brought to you by the Plymouth Waterfront Partnership. A fun-filled weekend – packed with delectable food and sea-themed entertainment – will take place across the waterfront in various locations, including at Royal William Yard.
What to expect
Take a look at what’s happening and when at Royal William Yard during Seafest:
Saturday 16th September:
Timed events:
- 10-11:30am: head to Ocean Studios for an ocean creatures themed Mini Print session for children
- 10am-12:30pm: at Ocean studios, a Junior Print – Marine Life workshop will run for older children
- 11am: enjoy live music from sea shanty artist - Lil Cabin Bouy
- 12pm: be wowed by leading street dance crew – Street Factory
- 12:30pm: another performance from sea shanty artist - Lil Cabin Bouy
- 1:30pm: an opportunity to see local street dance crew – Street Factory
- 2pm: final performance of the day from sea shanty artist - Lil Cabin Bouy
- 3pm: bringing Saturday’s event to a close, Ben Squire will take to the green to hold a fish auction.
Running throughout the day:
- Higher Beings Circus Workshop will give the opportunity to learn impressive skills. Turn up and enjoy, no booking required
- Independent seafood restaurant, The Hook & Line, will have a fish market and BBQ. There will also be live cooking demos, with fish filleting tutorials and recipe recommendations – with wine pairings coming courtesy of Le Vignoble
- Quench your thirst at the bar by the cooking demo area, Le Vignoble will be serving wine, cider and soft drinks
- Ocean Studios will run a free drop-in Printing With Light activity (10am-4pm), enabling everyone to get creative
- Take part in a fun-filled Sea Life Hide & Seek challenge (with a tasty treat at the end!) – grab a printed map in our activity zone on the green
- Try our interactive Geo Trail, which transports you 380 million years into the past to find ancient sea creatures around the historic buildings
- An activity zone will offer and array of children's crafts and face painting
- Pop up stalls and plenty of places to eat and drink will provide plenty to see, do and discover at Royal William Yard across the whole Seafest weekend.
Sunday 17th September:
Timed events:
- 10.30am: Above Bounds Theatre group will perform an award-winning children's production, the Silly Squirrel pop-up puppet show. Turn up and enjoy, no booking required
- 11am: live music from sea shanty band - The Old Grumpies
- 11:30am: another performance of the Silly Squirrel by Above Bounds Theatre group
- 12pm: more live music, coming courtesy of The Sound House band
- 12:30pm: a chance to see sea shanty band - The Old Grumpies - perform
- 1:00pm: final show for the day from Above Bounds Theatre group of the Silly Squirrel pop-up puppet show
- 1:30pm: another opportunity to hear live music from The Sound House band
- 2pm: the final performance from sea shanty band - The Old Grumpies
