Learn the skills to deal with a swimmer in difficulty and requiring emergency first aid and CPR
SESSION AIM
To give an understanding and provide basic practical training on how to deal with a swimmer in difficulty / requiring emergency first aid
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
First aid session: - suitable clothing for first aid practice (kneeling and lying on the floor) - notepad and pen Beach/water based session: - suitable clothing for outdoor activity - suitable wetsuit for the time of year, neoprene boots or neoprene socks and shoes
SCHEDULE
- 09:00: Intro and split into 2 groups 09:30-12:00 hrs: First aid OR beach/water based session
- 12:00-13:00: Lunch
- 13:00-15:30: Beach/water based session OR first aid
- 15:30-16:00: Debriefing an incident and resources available
CONTENT
First aid session: - Scene assessment and primary survey - Calling for help - Looking after a conscious and unconscious casualty - Monitoring Beach and water based session: - Keeping safe at all times - Preparing for arrival of Emergency Services - Assisting someone in trouble including extracting safely and efficiently.
