Join RAMP at Ocean Studios for a captivating exploration of the intersection between the mystical and the material in "The Relationship Between Magic and Physical Artifacts," a thought-provoking talk as part of Occult Month at Ocean Studios.

Folklorist, curator, and outsider artist Steve Patterson will lead this journey through the ways in which magical practices, rituals, and folklore are manifested in physical forms—whether through art, objects, or sound.

Drawing from his extensive work as curator of Gwithti a Pystri (Museum of Folklore and Magic in Falmouth) and his recent exhibitions like "Phantasmagorical Histories," Steve will reveal how magical acts, often ephemeral and intangible, leave lasting impressions in the physical world.

Through Steve's unique perspective, you'll discover how art and magic are deeply intertwined—both serving as conduits for inner worlds to become tangible reality. He will also delve into his soundscape "The Lizard Pellar Mysteries," an extraordinary creation blending field recordings, traditional instruments, and analogue synthesis, crafted to encapsulate the haunting essence of Cornwall's coastal rituals.

This talk promises to challenge conventional perceptions, demonstrating that magical artifacts are not merely static relics but living embodiments of spiritual and metaphysical transformations.

Whether you're an artist, a spiritual seeker, or simply curious, this session will illuminate the dynamic relationship between magical rites and the artifacts they inspire.
