Drakes Island Swim & SW SUP Paddle

The 2024 Drakes Island swim in aid of The Chestnut Appeal for Men's Health will take place on Sunday 22nd September with a Swim Time of around 09.30
The swim starts on the beach at Firestone Bay with swimmers setting out for the Island, round a couple of marker buoys and making their way back to the beach a distance of around 1.5km. We ask that all participants are able to swim the distance in a pool, have experience of swimming in Open Water and in varying sea conditions.
Registration for the swim will take place in Royal William Yard from 7am.
The £35 entry fee covers the cost of organising the event and the safety cover, but it’s the money you raise that helps Prostate Cancer patients and their families across Devon and Cornwall. Interesting Facts:
£60 will pay for 3 PSA tests.
£120 will pay for 500 awareness leaflets.
£300 will pay towards promotion across the region of the most common cancer in men, prostate cancer.
£600 will pay for 10% of our nurses psychosexual counselling course.
£1,000 will go towards furnishing a treatment room in the Chestnut Unit.
£5,000 will go towards state-of-the-art kit to be used for the care of prostate, testicular or penile cancer patients.
£10,000 will run the holiday home for a year.
Your £35 registration includes; Water Safety Cover. Event swim cap. Full lifeguard and medical support. An event medal and post swim refreshments.
