Game, set, match made in heaven: Wimbledon comes to Royal William Yard
Posted on: 30 Jun 2023
Part of a jam-packed calendar of events for July
Tennis fans are invited catch all the Wimbledon action live on the open-air big screen at Royal William Yard from 3rd to 16th July. The perfect setting, spectators can watch the renowned British tournament on the Yard’s green – formerly a lawn tennis court – while relaxing in deckchairs in the summer sunshine.
Bringing the Wimbledon vibe to the popular waterfront destination, the quintessential combination of Pimm’s and strawberries & cream will all be available. For those keen to enjoy a bite to eat in front of the action unfolding on screen, scan the QR codes on display on the green to peruse and order from the Yard’s restaurants. The wide range of eateries will offer everything from British classics like fish and chips to a broad variety of global cuisine.
Independent winebar, Le Vignoble, will have the best of British on offer, with English sparkling wines, strawberries & cream. Steel Brew Co will serve refreshing beverages from its horsebox bar, and Bistrot Pierre will serve a variety of spritzers, cocktails and mocktails from a pop-up bar.
In addition to the tennis, Royal William Yard has a whole host of activity lined up for the month ahead, including:
- RWY Good Food and Craft Market - Sunday 2nd July - (10am – 3pm). With stalls covering The Green, this leading local market boasts the best food, drink, crafts and creations from the region’s finest traders.
- Yard Sessions - Friday 7th July (5.30 – 8pm, Firestone Arch). In the scenic surrounds of Firestone Bay, relax with local musical talent - Andy Quick and Matt George - with a drink in your hand as the sun goes down.
