The popular Good Food and Craft Market is returning to Royal William Yard from next month, making use of the destination’s abundant outdoor space to help visitors to shop and socialise safely. The monthly markets have been a staple of Royal William Yard’s event calendar for years, and after an 18-month hiatus, the much-loved markets are due back again as a regular fixture.

Taking place on Sunday 8th August, 10-3pm, a variety of the region’s best artisan traders will be found on the Yard’s lawn. The first market of the year will offer a smaller, curated selection of stalls, evenly spaced out across the green, to allow visitors to stay distanced and shop with ease. Known for hosting an array of talented artists and makers, the market will offer everything from tasty treats to handcrafted gifts.

Following August’s welcome return, the markets will resume their regular slot of the first Sunday of the month, on 5th September, 3rd October, 7th November, and then festive markets throughout December. All dates are subject to Government restrictions and the markets will adhere to official guidelines in force at the time.

Getting here and staying here

Visitors can make a day of it – if not a short stay! The vibrant array of bars and eateries are open for indoor and outdoor visits, stunning Grade II listed Rooms by Bistrot Pierre is welcoming overnight guests again, cultural hub Ocean Studios has a variety of workshops and exhibitions taking place, and there are countless places to explore and things to do throughout Royal William Yard.

For those travelling locally, the Plymouth Citybus number 34 service runs hourly; it includes routes to the City Centre and the park-and-ride at Milehouse. The number 21 runs frequently and has a stop at Stonehouse that is only a short walk from Royal William Yard. Or why not take to the water, with a new Barbican, Royal William Yard & Mount Edgcumbe ferry service.
