Every year The Royal William Yard hosts its locally famous Christmas Food and Crafts market attracting thousands of people to the historic site. This year promises to be even more special- with free live Christmas children’s interactive experiences presented by Far Flung Dance/Theatre and opera singer Amelia Whitman singing Christmas songs. We will also be welcoming in Santa into the Yard on his RNLI lifeboat with a stunning Lantern Parade, which we would love the people of Plymouth to be involved with!

A lantern making workshop will be held at Royal William Yard in the morning of the 26th November, where fully DBS checked and Insured group Transform Arts will be showing everybody how to create their own festive home made Lanterns. At a cost of only £3.50 pp, you can create a Boat or Lighthouse Lantern, which you can then return to display at our Lantern Parade on Sunday 4th December at 3:45pm as part of the Christmas Spectacular.

For busy Parents and Guardians this is the perfect time to let you child create something magical while you go out to get those all important Christmas gifts for 2 hours. The meeting point for the workshops will be outside Rockets and Rascals in Royal William Yard 15 minutes before your allocated workshop time. For workshops times and bookings please click here or visit www.royalwilliamyard.com.

The Lantern Parade on the 4th Dec will set off from St Georges School at 3:45pm and reach the Royal William Yard at 16:00. The participants will then display their lanterns around the Marina to welcome Santa in the yard at around 17:00, giving you lots of time to explore the markets and festivities.

We believe it would be lovely to have the people of Plymouth involved to help benefit the wider community at Christmas time, by putting on a beautiful Lantern parade to light up the town and welcome Santa into the Marina on his RNLI Lifeboat!
