LANDSCAPES, CELLS
By Sarah Burger and Nikolay Pachev In collaboration with Identity Fashion
"LANDSCAPES, CELLS" is the second chapter in the collaboration of the visual artist Sarah Burger and the fashion designer Nikolay Pachev.
Landscapes. Possibilities of space, much more than factual necessities. They embody the duration of Earth's history and thus know so much more than the little time since we human beings happen coincide with this planet.
Places for imagination, for thoughts beyond the horizon, for longings and for memories, seen from a distance, always untouched, out of reach from our hands.
The black and white part of the series "Realms" by Sarah Burger show cinematrografic views into horizons in combination with physical and architectural creatures. Moments of absence of what was before or will come after, endless splinters of time. The colourful other part of the series shows photographed paintings that remind of cellular structures, microscopic details of life, haunches of this vast world to which we somehow, without help of means, do have so little access.
The collages and photographes by Sarah Burger serve Nikolay
Pachev as raw material for his new collection. His work was already presented by Identity Fashion in Plymouth in 2022 where he showed his collection "HUG"
Bio
Nikolay Pachev (*1981 in Sofia, BG) studied fashion at NBU in Sofia, specialized at KHB in Berlin and holds a PhD in applied arts from NBU. His design work was showcased in Germany, The Netherlands, England, USA and was awarded in Italy and Czech Republic.
He is interested in exploring innovative manufacturing technologies for the fashion industry and creating brand concepts around the complexity of unifying images and subcultural inspirations.
Sarah Burger (*1982 in Glarus, CH) studied philosophy, comparative literature and linguistics at the University of Zurich and the Humboldt University of Berlin as well as Visual Art at the HEAD in Geneva. She holds a PhD in artistic research from the Arts University in Linz, AT.
In her work she explores unnamed dimensions of the visible, idiosyncrasies of materials and shifts in value by inscribing next layers of meaning into spaces and things. More and more she understands that the yet unknown places are not the untraveled landscapes, but the vastness of space other people contain within themselves. www.sarahburger.ch
