Home to an array of outstanding health and wellbeing businesses, Royal William Yard has raised the bar even higher, with the opening of a new state-of-the-art gym. BLOCK Gym has thrown open its doors to offer a modern fitness facility, available to use 24/7. Blending the best of old and new; the gym combines the latest in fitness equipment and innovative tech, within the striking original architecture of the historic Melville building.

This long-awaited addition to Royal William Yard means the popular waterfront destination now has a full complement of fitness facilities and activities, both indoor and outdoor, with countless opportunities to get active or relax.

The new 60 station gym features a cardiovascular suite, free weights area and functional training zone, all equipped with the latest workout technology that assists, tracks and guides members’ fitness journeys. A purpose-built studio offers a balance of physical and mental wellbeing workshops, with yoga and Pilates on offer alongside a range of exercise classes.

Personal training is available for members looking for support and mentoring, with group training sessions available throughout the week, bookable via the BLOCK Gym member app. Members can also enjoy collaborations with local community wellbeing partners, including a running club, open water swimming, stand up paddle boarding, and sports massage.

Emily Jones, Commercial Director of Urban Splash, said: “This fulfils a long-held ambition bring a gym to Royal William Yard that residents, businesses, and the wider community can all benefit from. It completes the picture of incredible facilities and activities on offer here; you can now enjoy everything from paddle boarding to Pilates, sea swimming to studio sessions. We’ve worked hard to bring the best in wellbeing to Plymouth and whether you want to be active or seek sanctuary, there’s no better place to look after yourself.”

BLOCK Gym Manager, Nathan Sarahs, added: “We have invested a huge amount of time, energy and experience to create a gym that is totally unique. Members have access to the latest equipment and technology, an array of holistic classes and activities, and skilled support to help them every step of the way. This is a special space, with a warm and welcoming team – and we’re delighted to open the doors and meet our new members.”

Accessible to all, the new gym is open to visitors as well as the hundreds of people that live and work at Royal William Yard. Membership is intentionally straightforward, with no hidden fees or lengthy contracts, just flexible memberships starting from £39.95 per month. Gym membership comes as part of the deal for BLOCK office and co-working tenants. Corporate packages are also available for local businesses looking to invest in wellbeing.
