A unique cultural event is coming to Plymouth’s waterfront, with the launch of Landscapes, Cells, a free exhibition showcasing an innovative collaboration between Swiss visual artist Sarah Burger and Bulgarian fashion designer Nikolay Pachev.

The exhibition opens at Identity Fashion in Royal William Yard on Friday 26th September with a grand opening featuring a fashion show, before continuing over the weekend (27th-28th September). Admission is completely free.

Identity Fashion, the independent fashion label and boutique that has been a cornerstone of Royal William Yard's retail offering for 10 years, has organised this boundary-pushing exhibition.

Founded by Deni Avramova-Bastable around an ethos of self-expression through style, Identity Fashion specialises in exclusive, often one-off and limited-edition pieces - making it the perfect partner for this innovative installation.

The exhibition marks the second collaboration between Burger and Pachev, and the third partnership between Pachev and Identity Fashion, following his acclaimed HUG collection exhibited in Plymouth in 2021 and 2022.

What to expect:

At the heart of Landscapes, Cells lies Burger's photographic series Realms. Her striking black-and-white images reveal cinematic horizons and architectural forms that capture suspended moments in time, while her vivid colour works resemble cellular structures and microscopic details, opening new ways of seeing hidden worlds.

Inspired by Burger's imagery, Pachev has created flowing textile sculptures that transform the two-dimensional photographs into dynamic three-dimensional forms. His designs merge structure and movement, blurring the boundaries between fashion and art.

Together, the works explore themes of space, memory, and the unseen details of life, creating an immersive experience that invites visitors to reconsider how we perceive the world around us.
