Having consulted with customers in Plymouth, The Royal William Yard management team has responded to feedback by launching a new way to pay for onsite parking, making the process more flexible - and possibly a little cheaper for visitors.

The Yard team has recently introduced a new simpler pay and display system, which also offers visitors the ability to pay using a new parking app.

Visitors pay on arrival as normal, but if they wish to extend their stay (for example if they are enjoying their meal or their haircut is taking longer) they can use the app to extend their parking, without a trip back to the machine. This means they could pay £2 for two hours at the machine, then top up to add an additional 2 hours, thus avoiding the £5 for 5 hours tariff .

The app is the Paybyphone app: https://paybyphone.co.uk. To use it, customers simply need to complete a brief registration process and then start their parking sessions by inputting the Royal William Yard location number: 59542.

Those who don't want to use the app can also use a dedicated online service for RWY by using the following link. http://www.sipcarparks.co.uk/pay

Michael McGregor, Royal William Yard's Estate Manager said: "We've listened to feedback from occupiers and visitors to the Yard - some of who found the previous system difficult to use. As a positive response to the feedback, we are pleased to confirm that we have introduced this new simple pay and display system for visitors. The system offers easier payment machines, much greater flexibility and more ways to pay, as well as discounted tariff for topping up when using the app.

"We hope it will make the Yard even more enjoyable and an easier place to visit and we look forward to welcoming everybody to the site. Customers requiring help with the app on any aspect of the site should speak with out friendly onsite management and parking team who'll be more than happy to help”

The news comes ahead of an exciting summer of events at The Yard, with the inaugural Royal William Yard Festival taking place in May as well as the ongoing successful monthly food markets.

Visitors wishing to attend any events at The Yard, can also visit using The Royal William Yard Ferry, the 34a bus, on come on foot or by bike. There are also a range of alternative parking options outside Royal William Yard.
